\nA high-level Punjab Government delegation, led by Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, is all set tomake the state\u2019s presence felt as a preferred destination for investors at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, from January 21 to 26.<\/p>\n
Additional Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan and CEO Invest Punjab Rajat Agarwal will be accompanying Manpreet Badal at the yearly gathering that brings together leaders from more than 100 Governments, top executives from 1,000 top global companies and some of the most prominent cultural, societal and thought leaders from around the world.<\/p>\n
The agenda includes brainstorming on global topics and issues ranging from food security, healthcare, road safety, to shaping the future of mobility, finance and technology. The discussions help define the world\u2019s top priorities and shape global, industry and regional agendas.<\/p>\n
Participation to the event is by invitation only and is reserved for members of the Forum\u2019s communities. Punjab got a special invite this year to participate and is leveraging the opportunity to the maximum.<\/p>\n
At the event, the Finance Minister shall be speaking (alongside other global thought leaders) at multiple sessions such as \u201cCountry Strategy Dialogue for India\u201d, \u201cDiscussion around strengthening Global Food Systems\u201d, \u201cGlobal Road Safety Initiatives and Road Safety Partnerships for India\u201d and \u201cFood Safety Innovation: Towards a New Leadership Agenda for Action\u201d. These sessions offer a great opportunity to mark Punjab\u2019s presence at the global level and lend its voice on world issues.<\/p>\n
The delegation shall also be engaging in one\u2013on-one meetings with Global Leaders, including Chris Johnson (CEO for Asia, Oceania and Africa at Nestle), Christoph Wolff (Head of Mobility Industry and System Initiatives at WEF), Magesvaran Suranjan (President, Asia-Pacific, India, Middle East and Africaat Proctor and Gamble) and Teresa Carlson (VP, Worldwide Public Sector at Amazon Web Services), to discuss investment opportunities\/ pilot projects that could be undertaken in Punjab.<\/p>\n
Punjab has, over the past two years, undertaken a number of measures to improve the investment climate in the State. Initiatives such as The Industrial and Business Development Policy 2017, which offers a number of attractive incentives to investors, and a Business First Single Window portal to improve Ease of Doing Business have been welcomed by investors.<\/p>\n
Punjab is now undertaking aggressive outreach and brand building activities and the visit to Davos is part of these initiatives.
