Prime Minister Narendra Modi lays foundation stone of AIIMS in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai; Also inaugurates super specialty Hospitals in Madurai, Thanjavur and Tirunelveli; PM says Govt gives great priority to health care to make every citizen healthy and health care affordable.<\/p>\n
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Madurai in Tamil Nadu on Sunday. He laid the foundation stone of AIIMS in the city. The Union Cabinet had approved setting up of AIIMS at in Madurai in December last year. The operation & maintenance cost of new AIIMS is being fully borne by the Central Government. It will be completed in 45 months by September 2022.<\/p>\n
AIIMS, Madurai will be a 750 bedded hospital with 30 Emergency\/Trauma beds, 75 beds in the ICU & Critical Care unit, 215 beds in Super Specialty unit. It is being setup with a long term focus on PG and higher education and Research.<\/p>\n
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also unveiled plaques to inaugurate Super Speciality Block of Rajaji Medical College in Madurai, Thanjavur Medical College and Tirunelveli Medical College as a part of the Government Medical Colleges upgradation projects.<\/p>\n
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the launch of Ayushman Bharat as a big step that illustrates the govt’s commitment to ensuring health and wellness for all.<\/p>\n
PM Modi also addressed a political rally in Madurai. He began by paying respects to the ancient city of Madurai. PM described Madurai as the seat of the Tamil Sangam and an important centre of pilgrimage. Prime Minister reiterated his government’s resolve to root out corruption and bring the guilty to book. He hit out at negative forces in the opposition for coming together to remove the Modi government because of this war against corruption.<\/p>\n
PM said that his government is working to improve ease of living for the poor and middle class. The aim is to ensure that the fruits of development reach to all sections of the society. On the sanitation front more than 9 crore toilets have been built in past 4 years. Out of these 47 lakh have been built in Tamil Nadu alone.
