Ten persons died and 36 were injured in two road accidents in Udhampur and Kishtwar districts during the last 24 hours.According to the police, six persons died and 34 were injured when a Kashmir-bound private bus skidded off a hilly road and rolled down a gorge at Chandeh village on the Mansar-Surinsar road in Udhampur district around midnight when its driver lost control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The bodies were shifted to the primary health centre while the 11 seriously injured were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, for treatment. Later, a critically injured person succumbed to injuries at the hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The police said five persons, including a woman, died on the spot. They were identified as Mohammad Iqbal Barkat and Manzoor Ahmad, both residents of Shopian district, Farooq Ahmad and Asiya Bashir of Bandipora and Javed Ahmad of Budgam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Piyush Singla, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, said the driver had reportedly taken an interior route to dodge the traffic police in view of the restrictions on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident took place at Dadpeth in Kishtwar when a vehicle, in which six persons were travelling, skidded off the road and fell some metres down on to another road. Two passengers died on the spot and two others died at a hospital in Kishtwar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Locals rushed to the site to rescue the injured. Teams of the police and district administration also arrived at the spot and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
