Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched a pension scheme \n‘Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan for unorganized sector workers in \nAhmedabad, Gujarat. This mega pension scheme ensures old age protection \nfor unorganized Workers, whose monthly income is Rs 15,000\/ per month or\n less.It is a voluntary and contributory pension scheme, where each \nsubscriber under the PMSYM, shall receive minimum assured pension of Rs \n3000- per month after attaining the age of 60 years. A contribution \nmatching the age specific contribution of the beneficiary will be made \nby the Central Government.
The nation on Tuesday saw another \nexample of making the impossible possible when Prime Minister Narendra \nModi launched a mega pension scheme for workers in the unorganized \nsector, the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan Yojana at Vastral in \nGujarat. The scheme will provide monthly pension of Rs. 3000 to the \nemployees of unorganised sector after they attain the age of 60 years. A\n contribution matching the age specific contribution of the beneficiary \nwill be made by the Central Government. On this occasion, Prime Minister\n also distributed pension card to the beneficiaries under ‘Pradhan \nMantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan Yojana’ and interacted with some of the \nbeneficiaries. This mega social security scheme was announced by the \nCentre as part of this year’s budget.Addressing the gathering, Prime \nMinister Modi said that 42 crore workers from un-organised sectors are \neligible for this pension scheme by contributing Rs 55 to Rs 200 \nmonthly. PM Modi said that the scheme is dedicated to the workers of the\n country, and it is like a tilak on the forehead of “Maa Bharati”.
Prime\n Minister also said that Government had introduced the mega pension \nscheme in the interim budget for 2019, to ensure old age protection for \nunorganized workers. Slamming the opposition, the PM said that previous\n govts had ignored the poor while this govt has launched many welfare \nschemes for the poor. And people from all across the country hailed the \nscheme as game changer.

At least ten crore workers in \nthe unorganized sector will be benefitted in next five years.The Prime \nMinister said that a contribution, matching the equal amount as that of \nthe beneficiary, will be made by the Union Government.The PM-SYM scheme \nalong with the health coverage provided under ‘Ayushman Bharat’ and life\n and disability coverage provided under ‘Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti \nBima Yojana’ and ‘Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana will ensure \ncomprehensive social security coverage for the workers in the \nunorganized sector at their old age.Prime Minister interacted directly \nwith the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojna \nin Ahmedabad where the PM heard reactions about the scheme.Union \nminister Santosh Kumar Gangwar said that things have changed for better \nand something which was ‘Na-Mumkin’, has now become ‘MUMKIN’ under PM \nMODI’s leadership. He said that close to 14.5 Lakh People have \nregistered Under PM-SYM.
While Pradhan Mantri Shram-Yogi Maandhan\n Yojana (PM-SYM) was also launched in various parts of the country. \nUnion Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj, Minister of \nElectronics and IT, Ravi Shankar Prasad, and Minister of Science and \nTechnology, Dr. Harsh Vardhan launched PM-SYM in Delhi. Union IT \nMinister Ravi Shankar Prasad highlighted initiatives by the govt for \ndigital transactions under Digital India. He said that now beneficiaries\n receive their fund in their accounts through DBT. While, Minister of \nExternal Affairs, Sushma Swaraj said that as a mark of respect, Govt \nchose the term ‘Shram-Yogi’ for beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri \nShram-Yogi Maandhan Yojana, under which receive minimum assured pension \nof Rs 3000- per month.Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Harsh \nVardhan said that praised Prime MInister Narendar Modi for his \ncommittment towards welfare of poor.Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi \nAdityanath launched the Pradhan Mantri Shram-Yogi Maandhan Yojana in \nGorakhpur.Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the \nAnnapurna Dham Trust in Adalaj and offered prayers at the Dham. PM Modi \nalso laid the foundation stone of a Shikshan Bhavan and a Vidyarthi \nBhavan in Adalaj town of Gandhinagar.
Addressing the function, \nPrime Minister said that society needs to be strengthened to see the \ncountry on the path of progress. Hailing the role played by the society \nfor welfare of common man, prime minister said it was the Leuva Patel \ncommunity, led by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, which started the Amul \nmovement and benefited people coming from all castes and classes in the \nvillages of Gujarat.PM said that our attempt is that the state should do\n the administrative work, and society should be empowered so that it can\n carry out such social works beneficial for the people at large.
