{"id":58488,"date":"2019-04-04T11:13:17","date_gmt":"2019-04-04T11:13:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/?p=58488"},"modified":"2019-04-04T11:13:18","modified_gmt":"2019-04-04T11:13:18","slug":"maldives-poised-for-coup-if-party-doesnt-get-majority-nasheed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/maldives-poised-for-coup-if-party-doesnt-get-majority-nasheed\/","title":{"rendered":"Maldives poised for coup if party doesn&#8217;t get majority: Nasheed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Former Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed has said the country is poised for a possible coup if his Maldivian Democratic Party doesn\u2019t get majority in the Presidential elections scheduled for Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Talking to Prasar Bharati correspondent in Male Wednesday evening, Nasheed said one of the main reasons his government had to face a coup in 2012 was their failure to get majority in 2009 parliamentary elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nasheed, who heads the MDP and is contesting a parliamentary seat, said independent institutions including judiciary lose confidence in the government if it doesn\u2019t have a parliamentary majority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said it becomes easy for anyone interested in staging a coup,  to stage a coup in such situation.
