The gauge had ended 353.87 points, or 0.91 per\n cent, lower to close at 38,585.35 in its previous session.Market mood \nwas cautious as polling began in 91 constituencies spread across 18 \nstates and two union territories in the first phase of Lok Sabha \nelection, traders said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Top gainers in the Sensex pack include \nBharti Airtel, Asian Paints, M&amp;M, HUL, Bajaj Auto, HDFC, Coal India,\n L&amp;T, ITC and HDFC Bank, rising up to 1.85 per cent.While Vedanta, \nKotak Bank, Sun Pharma Infosys, Yes Bank, IndusInd Bank, SBI and Axis \nBank were the top losers, shedding up to 1.75 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, \nVinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Financial Services, said, \n\u201cElection-led consolidation may be short-lived and the key trigger will \nbe the earnings growth which is expected to start revive from fourth \nquarter onwards. \u201dMeanwhile, foreign institutional investors purchased \nequity worth Rs 1,429.92 crore on Tuesday, while domestic institutional \ninvestors sold equities of Rs 461.29 crore, provisional data available \nwith stock exchanges showed.\n\n<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Domestic equity benchmarks opened on a cautious note on Thursday as voting began in 91 constituencies across the country in the first phase of Lok Sabha election.
