Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today said neither Prime Minister Narendra Modi nor any other NDA leader wanted to politicise armed forces and there was nothing wrong in talking about the political will giving freedom to the forces to take action as they deem fit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At an \ninteractive session with intellectuals, academics and young thinkers \nhere, she said the Opposition had been constantly coming up with the \nallegation that armed forces were being politicised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNobody \nwants to politicise the armed forces, not particularly myself or prime \nminister or anybody from here . We don\u2019t want to politicise the armed \nforces, she said.Sitharaman sought to know whether it was wrong to \ncompare how \u201cweak\u201d the Manmohan Singh-led government was in 2008 \npost-Mumbai attacks and the how \u201cstrong\u201d the Modi government was now in \n2019 after the Pulwama terror attack by Jaish-e-Mohammed which killed 40\n CRPF jawans in February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAction was taken after Pulwama because\n we felt the heat from the people saying: Is this India? Is this the \ngovernment we voted for? Are you incapable of taking action? She asked \nthe people to differentiate between politicisation and talking about the\n political will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
