She was 76.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her passing was mourned worldwide, and \nthousands turned out for her funeral in Detroit.Franklin sold millions \nof albums and was the icon of a generation. When she died, she left \nbehind a $60 million fortune, according to sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Such a \nspecial award and citation from the Pulitzers is relatively rare.
