Her representative, Clara Dallay, said \nauthorities had issued arrest warrants against her and fight organiser \nMahyar Monshipour.Monshipour, an Iranian-born former boxing world \nchampion who is now a French citizen, set up the bout after Iran opened \nthe door to allowing women to box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hossein Soori, the head of \nIran\u2019s boxing federation, denied Khadem would be arrested, attributing \nthe information to \u201cmedia linked to Saudi Arabia\u201d.Iranian women\u2019s \nparticipation in sports events is heavily restricted, though authorities\n are beginning to give ground in some areas after years of campaigning \nby pressure groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The federation now allows women to register \nto box, on condition that they be coached by a woman and wear the \nIslamic hijab while competing.To date, no bouts between female fighters \nhave taken place in Iran.\n\n<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The first Iranian woman to contest an official boxing bout has cancelled plans to return home after an arrest warrant was issued for her in Tehran, her representative said on Wednesday as Iranian authorities issued a denial.
