Ministry of Home Affairs has issued orders to suspend \nthe LoC trade in Jammu & Kashmir starting tomorrow. This action has \nbeen taken as the Government of India has been receiving reports that \nthe Cross LoC trade routes are being misused by Pakistan based elements \nfor funnelling illegal weapons, narcotics and fake currency etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\n trade has changed its character to mostly third party trade and \nproducts from other regions, including foreign countries, are finding \ntheir way through this route. Unscrupulous and anti national elements \nare using the route as a conduit for Hawala money, drugs and weapons, \nunder the garb of this trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the ongoing investigations \nof certain cases by NIA, it has been brought out that a significant \nnumber of trading concerns engaged in LoC trade are being operated by \npersons closely associated with banned terrorist organizations involved \nin fuelling terrorism and separatism. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Investigations have \nfurther revealed that some individuals, who have crossed over to \nPakistan, and joined militant organizations have opened trading firms in\n Pakistan.
