{"id":59649,"date":"2019-04-22T05:45:19","date_gmt":"2019-04-22T05:45:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/?p=59649"},"modified":"2019-04-22T05:45:20","modified_gmt":"2019-04-22T05:45:20","slug":"balanced-and-positive-media-coverage-is-need-of-the-hour-opines-experts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/balanced-and-positive-media-coverage-is-need-of-the-hour-opines-experts\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cBalanced and positive media coverage is need of the hour\u201d, opines experts"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Chandigarh<br>Public  Relations Society of India (PRSI), Chandigarh Chapter today organized a  one day seminar on \u2018Role of PR in General Elections\u2019 to commemorate the  34th \u2018National PR Day\u2019 at Press Club here under the directions and  leadership of Harjeet Singh Grewal, Chairman of PRSI Chandigarh Chapter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In\n his inaugural address, General Secretary of PRSI Chandigarh Chapter Dr \nJimmy Kansal presenting the significance of PR Day stated that Public \nRelations and communication professionals across the country celebrates \nApril 21st every year as National PR Day in order to build public \nopinion on various issues of national and social importance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He \nadded that code of ethics for PR professionals was adopted on 21 April \n1968, which infact was the beginning of professional public relations in\n India. \u201cThe National PR Day was declared in April 21, 1986 and we \nre-dedicated ourselves to the cause of Public Relations to scale-up \nprofessionalism in all our endeavors\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The eminent \nspeakers who deliberated on the current issue during this seminar were \nVivek Atray, former IAS officer, Ajay Shukla Editor-in-Chief iTV \nNetwork, P K Khurana founder chairman of Quik Relations Private Ltd, RK \nKaplash vice-chairman of PRSI Chandigarh and Dr Amanpreet Randhawa, head\n of Center of Advanced Media Studies, Punjabi University, Patiala. They \ndelved upon that right to cast vote is a very vital link for democracy. \nVoter\u2019s participation in the democratic and electoral process is \nintegral to the successful running of any democracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The panel \ndiscussion focused how the citizens could voice their concerns by taking\n part in the election process and exercise their voting right.Presenting\n his views Vivek Atray stated that PR is an ever evolving profession. \nTechnological advancements and IT have changed everything. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indian\n elections are the largest elections in the world and role of media has \nbecome paramount so balanced and positive coverage is required.Dr \nRandhawa deliberated on bridging the gap between PR professionals and \nacademicians. She spoke on the most vital issues of crisis communication\n and image rebuilding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking on the occasion Ajay Shukla \ncorroborated on the role of social media, print media and electronic \nmedia in elections.
