Paramjeet Kaur Khalra contests as a PDA candidate, it would lead to a big loss-Ranjit Singh Brahmpura<\/strong>

Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, president of Shiromani Akali Dal (Taksali) and MP from Khadoor Sahib constituency on Sunday sharply criticised Sukhpal Singh Khaira for his dilly dallying approach to withdraw the nomination of Paramjeet Kaur Khalra as a Punjab Democratic Alliance candidate,” In a statement released from party office today.

\u201cEarlier Sukhpal Singh khaira, leader of Punjab Democratic Alliance (PDA) demanded from us to withdraw our candidate General JJ Singh from Khadoor Sabhib constituency to strengthen the hands of Bibi Khalra. Now while we have withdrawn our candidate from the election fray, Khaira is reluctant to field Bibi Khalra as an independent,\u201d alleged Brahmpura.

\u201cWe have decided to support Paramjeet Kaur Khalra now, but some other like minded parties are not ready to support her if Paramjeet Kaur Khalra contests the election as a PDA candidate. We cannot ignore the importance of other parties without taking any risk,\u201d Brahmpura said.

\u201cIf\n Paramjeet Kaur Khalra contests as an independent candidate from Khadoor\n Sahib, even Bhagwant Mann, state president of AAP has assured me to \nsupport her. Besides it, some more parties, social working and human \nrights committees may also join to support her. But now many are saying \nthat they would not support Paramjeet Kaur Khalra if she is Khaira\u2019s \ncandidate ,\u201dsaid Brahmpura.

Responding to query, Brahmpura said \nthat AAP is also a big factor in Khadoor parliamentary constituency.\u201d If\n AAP is there, it may lead to a split the votes which would surely a \nbenefit to the two traditional parties in the battle field.\u201d If we are \nunited, we can easily defeat the congress and SAD who are no longer \npopular among the masses. The people are fed up with these parties and \nwant a change. But if there are more candidates in election fray and we \nfail to reach upon a consensus on the nomination of Paramjeet Kaur \nKharla to field her as an independent candidate, it would be our loss,\u201d \nsaid Ranjit Singh Brahmpura.

\u201cWe can only request and appeal \nSukhpal Singh Khaira to honour the sentiments of the masses and Sikhs \nabroad because her husband had laid down his life the great cause during\n militancy. People want Jaswant Singh Khalra\u2019s wife to elect their MP. \nNow ball is in the court of Sukhpal Singh Khaira whether he gives up his\n ego rising above politics and announces Bibi as an independent \ncandidate. If there is any loss of votes due to it, it would be the \nresponsibility of Sukhpal Singh Khaira alone,\u201d Brahmpura said.

Brahmpura\n denied his going back in SAD folder responding to a statement made by \nSukhbir Singh Badal, SAD president.\u201d I am not  going to say much in this\n regarding as we have been as family for about half the century, but \nthere is no going back now. We shall contest the elections as a SAD \n(Taksali) are here to stay.

About the rumors rife in the air that\n BJP may parachute Sunny Deol, a film actor from Mumbai to Amritsar, \nBrahmpura termed it as a bad trend in politics.\u201cIt is very sad and \nunfortunate trend in our politics to bring parachute candidates only to \nwin elections who have no connection with the constituency and flee it \nafter wining leaving the people in the lurch.
