Senior executives of grounded Jet Airways met the Union finance minister Arun Jaitley on Friday and requested him to direct the banks to release at least one month\u2019s salary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jet has not paid salaries of a large \nnumber of its employees for the last three months, causing huge \nfinancial distress to them. The carrier last week suspended its entire \noperations for want of cash and is unlikely to clear employee dues \nanytime soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The airline executives also appealed to expedite \nthe bidding process for the airline\u2019s stake sale and ensure transparency\n in the procedure. National Aviator\u2019s Guild Vice President Captain Asim \nValiani said the Finance Minister assured them that he would look into \nall issues raised by the airline employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe urged him to \nprotect our slots so that there is something for the new buyers. We also\n requested that Jet Airways\u2019 aircraft do not get de-registered and go \nelsewhere,\u201d Valiani said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have not got any firm commitment \nfrom the Finance Minister on payment of one month\u2019s salary, but he told \nus that all the issues would be looked into,\u201d Valiani said after the \nmeeting with Jaitley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The airline executives accompanied by \nMaharashtra Finance Minister Sudhir Mungatiwar also urged the minister \nto ensure that Jet Airways\u2019 slots are protected. Jet CEO Vinay Dube and \nCFO Amit Agarwal were present in the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jet Airways had on \nWednesday night suspended its operations indefinitely. The airline\u2019s \nrevival now depends on successful stake sale initiated by the lenders \nled by SBI.
