Powerful all-rounder Shane Watson retired from Australia\u2019s Twenty20 Big Bash League Friday, but will continue playing select overseas tournaments.The 37-year-old, who quit international cricket in 2016, stood down as Sydney Thunder\u2019s captain and all-time top run-scorer to spend more time with his family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI have so many amazing memories that I will \nsavour forever with the one standout being our win in 2016,\u201d he said.\u201cTo\n my teammates, I have played with so many great people and cricketers at\n the club and I sincerely wish everyone the absolute best for the \nupcoming seasons.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He smacked a century from just 62 balls for \nthe Thunder against the Brisbane Heat last season and hit 96 off 53 \nballs for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League this \nweek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cricket Australia chief executive Kevin Roberts \ncongratulated him on a \u201cdynamic career\u201d.\u201cShane Watson was one of the \nmost exciting short-form players ever to grace a cricket field,\u201d he \nsaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
