The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Behbal Kalan firing case has categorically rejected the media reports, claiming clean chit to some persons, pointing out that only a single challan filed by it against one accused had been selectively taken into consideration to come to erroneous conclusions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A spokesperson of Punjab Police \nsaid the case was still under investigation, with many aspects yet to be\n probed. There was no question of giving a clean chit to anyone till the\n completion of the investigations, said the spokesperson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The \n792-page challan submitted in Faridkot court and cited in the media \nreports was against only one accused i.e. former SSP Charanjit Singh \nSharma. The challan was based on strong evidence, with investigation \nagainst him on other aspects still in progress, said the spokesperson, \nadding that after the completion of the investigation, a supplementary \nchallan\/(s) shall be presented in the court against all those found \nguilty as per law, including Charanjit Sharma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fact that \ninvestigations were still going on precluded the possibility of clean \nchit being given to anyone, said the spokesperson. A single document \npresented as challan based on partial investigation could not be taken \nas evidence for giving clean chit to those not mentioned in the challan,\n he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pointing out that the said media reports had \nthemselves mentioned that SIT was yet to file challan against at least \nthree other named in the FIR, namely SP Bikramjeet Singh, Pradeep Kumar \nand Amarjit Singh, the spokesperson said it was quite obvious that the \nchallan filed so far was based on limited investigation conducted so \nfar.The spokesperson made it clear that action would be taken in \naccordance with law against anyone found guilty in the 2015 case.\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
