US President Donald Trump, three of his children and seven of his companies filed a federal lawsuit Monday against Deutsche Bank and Capital One Financial Corp to block the banks from complying with federal subpoenas investigating his financial dealings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The \nfederal lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court’s Southern District of\n New York, contends that demands for records by Democrat-controlled \nHouse committees have “no legitimate or lawful purpose.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It also \nstates that “The subpoenas were issued to harass President Donald J. \nTrump, to rummage through every aspect of his personal finances, his \nbusinesses, and the private information of the President and his \nfamily.” The suit also complains that the Democrats are hoping “they \nwill stumble upon something they can expose publicly and use as a \npolitical tool against the President.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On April 15, two U.S. \nHouse of Representatives committees issued subpoenas to multiple \nfinancial institutions for information on Trump’s finances.”The \npotential use of the U.S. financial system for illicit purposes is a \nvery serious concern. The Financial Services Committee is exploring \nthese matters, including as they may involve the president and his \nassociates, as thoroughly as possible,” Waters, said in a statement \nearlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Schiff said previously in a statement the subpoenas \nissued included a “friendly subpoena to Deutsche Bank.” Trump recently \nhas said that he intends to defy any efforts from the Democrats to dig \ninto his affairs.
