Former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev, who is prepping actor Ranveer Singh for the upcoming film \u2018’83\u2019, is ecstatic about the surge in films on sports stars. He says it is a “good sign” as the country was not ready to make movies on sports around two decades ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In recent times, Bollywood has \nseen a slew of successful sports based movies such as \u2018Mary Kom\u2019, \u2018M.S. \nDhoni: The Untold Story\u2019, \u2018Bhaag Milkha Bhaag\u2019, \u2018Dangal\u2019 and \u2018Sachin: A \nBillion Dreams\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The film \u2018’83\u2019 essays Kapil’s captaincy in \nleading the Indian cricket team to defeat the West Indies in the World \nCup final in 1983. Ranveer will essay Kapil’s role in the film, directed\n by Kabir Khan and produced by Reliance Entertainment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kapil \nsaid: “It was not up to me to decide who will play my character in the \nfilm. But Ranveer has such great energy. I know that he will give more \nthan 100 per cent to the film and the entire team will make this movie a\n success.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The duo, along with the other members of the film’s \ncast had a preparation session at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket \nAssociation Stadium in Dharamsala last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Making a film like\n ’83’ is a beautiful idea and I know that Ranveer and team will do a \ngreat job,” added the former cricketer, who has come out with a coffee \nbook titled “We The Sikhs”. \u2018’83\u2019 holds an even more special place for \nthe 60-year-old cricketer as his daughter Amiya is working as an \nassistant director in the film.\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
