{"id":60485,"date":"2019-05-02T12:05:27","date_gmt":"2019-05-02T12:05:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/?p=60485"},"modified":"2019-05-02T12:05:28","modified_gmt":"2019-05-02T12:05:28","slug":"punjab-cm-demands-no-value-cut-on-wheat-msp-from-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/punjab-cm-demands-no-value-cut-on-wheat-msp-from-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"PUNJAB CM DEMANDS NO VALUE CUT ON WHEAT MSP FROM CENTRE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>TELLS PM IT AMOUNTS TO DOUBLE JEOPARDY FOR FARMERS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chandigarh<br>Terming\n it double jeopardy for the farmers, who had already suffered crop \nlosses due to unseasonal rains, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder \nSingh has demanded an immediate reconsideration by the central \ngovernment of its decision to impose value cut on MSP of wheat procured \nunder the relaxed specifications in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The relaxation \ngiven for Rabi Marketing Season 2019-20 to compensate for the crop \nlosses should be allowed without any value cut, the Chief Minister has \nstated in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Captain Amarinder \nSingh has asked Modi to direct the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food \n&amp; Public Distribution, to immediately review their decision on value\n cut, which he said entails direct loss for the farmers who are already \nreeling under extreme financial stress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his letter, the Chief \nMinister pointed out that after acceding to the state\u2019s request (vide \nletter no. 7-5\/2019-S&amp;I of April 26, 2019) for relaxation in \nspecifications of lustre loss in wheat, the Department of Food and \nPublic Distribution (DFPD) in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Public Distribution, Government of India, had gone ahead to \nimpose a value cut for the same on the farmers. This was clearly a \ndouble jeopardy for the farmers, who, for no fault of theirs, were \nforced to suffer twice &#8211; first as a result of inclement weather on more \nthan one occasion since the procurement commenced, leading to great \ndifficulties in harvesting of the crop, and secondly on account of the \nvalue cut on MSP for their produce, leading to substantial loss in \nincome.
