The much-talked-about biopic PM Narendra Modi, helmed by Omung Kumar and starring Vivek Oberoi in the titular role, on Friday got a new release date. The film will now hit theaters on May 24, a day after the results of 17th Lok Sabha elections are declared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PM Narendra Modi \nnarrates the life story of Narendra Modi from his childhood days to him \nbecoming the prime minister of India. The film\u2019s release was stalled by \nthe Election Commission just a day before its original release date. It \nwas scheduled to hit the screens on April 5 and was later postponed to \nApril 11. Central Board of Film Certification issued a \u2018U\u2019 certificate \nto the movie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Announcing the ban, the commission said, \u201cAny \nbiopic material in the nature of biography\/hagiography sub-serving the \npurposes of any political entity or any individual entity connected to \nit, which is intended to, or which has the potential to disturb the \nlevel playing field during the elections, should not be displayed in \nelectronic media including cinematograph during the operation of MCC.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After\n zeroing in on a new release date for PM Narendra Modi, producer Sandip \nSsingh stated, \u201cAs a responsible citizen, we respect the law of the \ncountry. After a lot of discussions and keeping the curiosity and \nexcitement about the film in mind, we have decided to release the film \nimmediately after the Lok Sabha Election results. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added, \n\u201cThis is the first time a film will be promoted for only four days. I \nhope now nobody has any problem with the film and we are hoping for a \nsmooth release this time.\u201dPM Narendra Modi also stars Boman Irani, Manoj\n Joshi, Prashant Narayanan, Zarina Wahab, Barkha Sengupta, Anjan \nShrivastav, Yatin Karyekar, Ramakant Dayma, Akshat R Saluja, Jimesh \nPatel and Darshan Kumaar.\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
