Star Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has undergone an elbow surgery, raising doubts over his participation in the World Championships to be held in Doha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It has been learnt that the recovery is likely to \ntake three to four months, putting his participation at the prestigious \nWorlds in serious doubt.It is also certain that the Haryana athlete will\n miss major part of the international season, including the prestigious \nDiamond League series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chopra, who won a gold in the Commonwealth\n Games as well as the Asian Games last year, was successfully operated \nby celebrated orthopaedic surgeon Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala at the Kokilaben \nDirubhai Ambani Hospital here Thursday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The arthroscopic \nsurgery on his throwing right hand was done to remove bone fragments \nfrom his elbow joint and lasted around two hours.\u201cUndergone elbow \nsurgery in Mumbai by Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala. Will require some months of \nrehabilitation before i can start back with throwing. Hoping to return \nstronger. Every setback is a setup for a comeback. Dr.\n Pardiwala is a renowned orthopaedic surgeon who has treated many sports\n stars such as Sushil Kumar, Saina Nehwal, P V Sindhu, Yogeshwar Dutt, \nVinesh Phogat, Akhil Kumar, H S Prannoy among others.Experts, coaches \nand officials have been saying that Neeraj\u2019s low-arm throwing position \ncould put stress on his elbow.
