Cricketing greats Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman will depose in person for their alleged Conflict of Interest case before the BCCI Ombudsman cum Ethics Officer Justice DK Jain in New Delhi on May 14. It is learnt that the complainant Sanjeev Gupta of Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association and BCCI CEO Rahul Johri have also been summoned for deposition by Justice Jain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As\n per complaint lodged by Gupta, Tendulkar and Laxman are alleged to be \nconflicted for their dual roles as members of Cricket Advisory Committee\n and as icon and mentor of IPL teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both cricketers have \ndenied having any conflict and in fact blamed BCCI for the mess as the \nBoard never mentioned before their written submission that there is \n\u2018tractable Conflict of Interest\u201d which can be sorted on full disclosure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYes,\n both Tendulkar and Laxman had sought in person deposition before the \nEthics Officer and as per principles of natural justice. Accordingly, \nthey have been asked to depose in Delhi on May 14.Asked why BCCI CEO \nJohri has been summoned, the official said: \u201cThe BCCI is a party to the \ncase and just like in Sourav Ganguly\u2019s case, the parent body will give \nits view. There were erroneous reports that BCCI will not be \nrepresented. CAC is a BCCI subcommittee,\u201d the official said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
