Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has congratulated teachers and students for their best ever performance in PSEB Matriculation results which were announced yesterday.For the first time, the pass percentage of Government Schools was better than that of private schools, with the former recorded at 88.21% in comparison to the overall pass percentage of private schools which stood at 85%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The pass percentage in \ngovernment schools was 30% higher than last year, the Chief Minister \nsaid, adding that the hard work and dedication of the teachers had paid \noff and the Committee of Principals that he had set up after the \ndisappointing results last year had also shown exemplary results. \nPertinently, the pass percentage in 2018 was a mere 58.14%, while 2017 \nhad registered only 52.80%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Committee had mandated to suggest\n reforms and had made extensive presentations before the Chief Minister.\n Captain Amarinder Singh, after deliberating on the merits of the \nsuggestions, had directed the School Education Department to implement \nthe same.Improved basic infrastructure and teaching aids had led to the \nimprovement in education standards, said the Chief Minister, reiterating\n his commitment to further enhance the levels to make Punjab students \nglobally competitive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Interestingly, the border districts of \nGurdaspur, Pathankot, Amritsar, Tarn Taran and Ferozepur have shown \ndistinctive performance this year. Pathankot\u2019s pass percentage has gone \nup from a mere 52.33% last year to 91.20%, with Gurdaspur and Amritsar \nclosely following at 88.94% and 88.52%, as against 59.96% and 54.86% \nlast year respectively.\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
