The US will \u201cnot back down\u201d until China stops cheating American workers and stealing its jobs, President Donald Trump has said, as a top Chinese official started talks with his American counterparts on a trade deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Asserting\n that the \u201cera of economic surrender is over\u201d, Trump on Wednesday night \nsaid that he has announced to increase tariff on about USD 200 billion \nworth of Chinese products from 10 per cent to 25 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe \nwon\u2019t back down until China stops cheating our workers and stealing \ntheir jobs and that is what\u2019s going to happen. Otherwise, we don\u2019t have \nto do business with them. We don\u2019t have to do business. We can make the \nproduct right here if we have to like we used to. Remember like we used \nto,\u201d Trump said amidst applause from his supporters in Florida.Trump had\n agreed to pause his proposed increase in import tariff from China after\n he and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping last December agreed to \nconclude a trade deal in 100 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The deadline could not be met,\n but Trump deferred his decision on imposing new tariffs of Chinese \nproducts. But after China allegedly went back on its commitment which he\n had agreed during the negotiations and was incorporated in the trade \ndeal, Trump announced that he is going ahead with new tariffs on import \non Chinese products beginning May 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe last administration \nsigned a disastrous trade deal with South Korea that cost our country \nnearly 100,000 jobs but it was really 250,000 jobs. And if you remember \nour secretary of state at the time and our president at the time said \nthis will give 250,000 jobs and he and she were right except it was for \nSouth Korea, not for us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a loser and we totally \nrenegotiated the Korea trade deal to restore these jobs and rescue the \nAmerican auto industry because that was going to be a tremendous And \nthat deal is done,\u201d Trump said.\u201cRight before I came into office our \nnation was being signed up for a one-sided single sell out like you\u2019ve \nnever seen of the American worker and I said it\u2019s not going to happen; \nthe Trans-Pacific Partnership was going to destroy our automobile \nindustry like you\u2019ve never seen before and our automobile industry is \npouring back into our country,\u201d he said.\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
