{"id":61098,"date":"2019-05-12T11:40:08","date_gmt":"2019-05-12T11:40:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/?p=61098"},"modified":"2019-05-12T11:40:09","modified_gmt":"2019-05-12T11:40:09","slug":"australias-pm-launches-official-campaign-six-days-out-from-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/australias-pm-launches-official-campaign-six-days-out-from-election\/","title":{"rendered":"Australia\u2019s PM launches official campaign six days out from election"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Australia\u2019s  Prime Minister Scott Morrison officially launched his party\u2019s election  campaign on Sunday, less than a week before the May 18 vote that opinion  polls have consistently indicated he will lose.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the campaign \nlaunch in Melbourne, Morrison\u2019s focus was on economic management and \nsaid his centre-right Liberal-National coalition would support the \n\u201cdecent, simple and honest aspirations\u201d of Australians.\u201cA stronger \neconomy where people have the confidence to invest more, to employ more,\n to invent more, to work hard,\u201d Morrison said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government has\n been trailing the centre-left Labor Party, led by Bill Shorten, in \npolls for years, though recent figures indicate the race is \ntightening.Morrison\u2019s Liberal Party has been rocked by division in \nrecent times, having had three different leaders in four years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Neither\n of Morrison\u2019s two immediate predecessors as prime minister, Malcolm \nTurnbull and Tony Abbott, were present at the campaign launch. Former \nPrime Minister John Howard, who led Australia from 1996 to 2007, also \ndid not show up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Morrison has been the dominant figure for the \ngovernment in the campaign but members of his front bench attended the \nlaunch on Sunday, including Environment Minister Melissa Price, who has \nlargely been unseen during a campaign in which climate change has been a\n prominent issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The coalition has had to focus its attention on\n many traditionally safe seats this election, which appear to be under \nthreat from candidates running on platforms focused on more action on \nclimate change.The Age newspaper reported on Sunday the government was \nfacing tight contests in Tony Abbott\u2019s seat of Warringah in Sydney and \nthe seat of Higgins, in Melbourne\u2019s wealthy inner-east.Labor leader Bill\n Shorten said there were a lot of disillusioned voters in Higgins, which\n the Liberal Party has held since the seat was created in 1949.\n\n<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Australia\u2019s Prime Minister Scott Morrison officially launched his party\u2019s election campaign on Sunday, less than a week before the May 18 vote that opinion polls have consistently indicated he will lose.
