{"id":61113,"date":"2019-05-12T11:57:12","date_gmt":"2019-05-12T11:57:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/?p=61113"},"modified":"2019-05-12T11:57:14","modified_gmt":"2019-05-12T11:57:14","slug":"acting-guru-roshan-taneja-dead-students-pay-tributes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/acting-guru-roshan-taneja-dead-students-pay-tributes\/","title":{"rendered":"Acting guru Roshan Taneja dead, \u2018students\u2019 pay tributes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Roshan  Taneja, the man behind the treasure trove of talent in Bollywood  including the likes of Shabana Azmi, Naseeruddin Shah, Jaya Bachchan,  Anil Kapoor and Shatrughan Sinha, has passed away at 87. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy \nfather passed away last night at 9.30 pm in his sleep at home after \nprolonged illness,\u201d the acting guru\u2019s son Rohit Taneja said. Roshan \nTaneja was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in February this year. He is\n survived by his wife Mithika and sons Rohit and Rahul. His cremation \nwas held at the electric crematorium in Santa Cruz West. It was attended\n by Anil, Govinda, Ratna Pathak Shah, Kanwaljit Singh and Gufi Paintal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Roshan\n Taneja\u2019s passion for acting took him to New York at The Neighborhood \nPlayhouse School of the Theatre to train under the famous Sanford \nMeisner &amp; Sydney Pollack, who went on to become an Academy \nAward-winning director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Known to many as the \u2018pioneer of method \nacting\u2019 in India, Roshan Taneja was held in high regard in the Hindi \nfilm industry. He had been training talent since the 1960s, first at the\n Film and Television Institute of India in Pune and later at his private\n school in Mumbai, the Roshan Taneja School of Acting.
