{"id":61207,"date":"2019-05-14T10:45:45","date_gmt":"2019-05-14T10:45:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/?p=61207"},"modified":"2019-05-14T10:45:46","modified_gmt":"2019-05-14T10:45:46","slug":"no-sacrilege-in-malerkotla-incident-investigations-reveal-accidental-fire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/no-sacrilege-in-malerkotla-incident-investigations-reveal-accidental-fire\/","title":{"rendered":"NO SACRILEGE IN MALERKOTLA INCIDENT, INVESTIGATIONS REVEAL ACCIDENTAL FIRE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>CM LAUDS POLICE FOR CRACKING THE CASE IN RECORD TIME, UNLIKE DURING AKALI REGIME<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Malerkotla<br>Acting\n with speed and agility, the Punjab Police on Monday cracked the \nMalerkotla sacrilege case, finding it the result of an accidental fire \nwhich the Granthi had reportedly tried to cover up with a concocted \nstory of a break-in for fear of being blamed of negligence and losing \nhis job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The case was solved by the concerted efforts of fire \nforensic experts from Chandigarh, Ludhiana and Sangrur, and the findings\n were also corroborated by an expert team from Mumbai, led byGopal \nRelkar, which was flown in today by the Punjab Police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Punjab \nChief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh lauded the collaborative efforts \nof these teams, under the guidance of SSP Sangrur, Sandeep Garg, and IG \nPatiala, AS Rai, with DGP Dinkar Gupta also monitoring the \ninvestigations and assessing the situation on the spot. Captain \nAmarinder commended the police for unraveling the case, which had the \npotential of sparking communal tensions in the state,&nbsp; in record time, \nunlike during the regime of the Akalis, who had failed to crack any of \nthe sacrilege cases which had rocked their government, especially in \n2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a police spokesperson, investigations had \nrevealed that the fire broke out accidentally due to overheating of a \nwall fan inside the sanctum sanctorum of the Gurdwara in Hathoa village.\n The PVC casing of the fan caught fire, which in turn set aflame the \norange `parna\u2019 with which the wall fan had been tied to the Palki Sahib \npillar. Both the fan and the parna fell on the carpet, which also caught\n fire that spread to the Birh of Guru Granth Sahib ji, causing it get \nsinged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Granthi, Joga Singh, confessed to having cooked up \nthe Darbar Hall break-in story when confronted with the forensic and \ncircumstantial evidence. He told the investigators that he was afraid of\n being blamed of negligence by the villagers and of being discharged \nfrom service, the sole source of income for his family of four, by the \ngurdwara management committee. The thought of radicals, many of whom had\n also reached the gurdwara, exploiting the situation to their benefit \nalso prompted him to come clean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scared by the deluge of police \npersonnel who descended on the gurdwara immediately after the incident, \nthe Granthi got scared and confessed to the Pradhan of the Local \nManagement Committee.
