An Indian woman chef has died in Dubai due to complications allegedly arising after a hip replacement surgery at a private hospital here, according to media reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“In reference to the demise of Betty Rita \nFernandes on May 9 after her surgery in Al Zahra Hospital Dubai , we \nhave made the family transparently aware of all the developments and \nongoing reviews,” Mohayem Abdelghany, Chief Executive Officer of the \nhospital, said in a statement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This incident is currently being\n dealt with multi-level in-depth reviews as per the hospital, Dubai \nHealth Authority and Joint Commission International guidelines. It was \nalso notified to the relevant authorities and DHA for their independent \nassessment and review and we will keep the patient’s family updated,” \nthe statement read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fernandes had a congenital issue and her hip \nwas slightly displaced when she was born, the report said.According to \nher family, she decided to go in for a hip replacement surgery under \nSamih Tarabichi, consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the Al Zahra \nHospital, Al Barsha, Dubai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On May 9, Fernandes, originally from \nMumbai, was admitted for the two-hour left hip replacement surgery.She \nwas a chef and ran ‘Betty’s Cake Tales’, a specialty Grocery Store as \nmentioned on her facebook page.The Dubai Health Authority is looking \ninto a complaint filed by a Fernandes’ husband.\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
