Iran\u2019s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif will hold talks with his counterpart in the Indian capital on Tuesday after New Delhi stopped purchases of Iranian oil this month in the wake of renewed US sanctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
India\n was Iran\u2019s top oil client after China, but halted imports after \nWashington reimposed sanctions on Iran and later withdrew waivers to \neight nations, including India, which had allowed them to import some \nIranian oil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have regular consultations with India on various\n issues and I\u2019m here to have consultations with my counterpart on most \nrecent developments in the region as well as our bilateral relations,\u201d \nhe added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIndia is one of our most important partners, economic,\n political and regional,\u201d Zarif told Reuters\u2019 partner ANI on Monday \nahead of talks with Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj.Washington wants to \nblock Iran\u2019s oil exports after US President Donald Trump pulled out of \nthe 2015 accord between Iran and six world powers to curb Tehran\u2019s \nnuclear programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
