The Cannes Film Festival is the \nstar attraction for film buffs all over the world. This edition is also \nwitnessing the efforts by the Indian delegation to project India as a \npreferred destination for foreign film makers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Indian \ndelegation held a meeting with film officials from across the globe. The\n delegation, headed by Amit Khare, the information and broadcasting \nsecretary sent a message that India is working towards making it easier \nfor foreign film units to shoot in the country not only by overhauling \nclearance-granting mechanisms, but also by providing incentives like tax\n refunds and subsidies to international movie projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The \nefforts bore fruits as the after a meeting with delegation, Israel \nproposed India to be the focus country in Jerusalem Film Festival, 2020.\n The buzz created by the Hindi movie Newton in Israel was also \nhighlighted by the Israeli Delegation. Israel also proposed the idea of \nmaking concept based films in India, with a focus on regional and small \nbudget films.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The India Pavilion at Cannes Film Festival 2019 was\n also inaugurated and a special IFFI poster marking its Golden Jubilee \nEdition was also released.A comprehensive Film Guide to showcase the \nimportance of the film ecosystem and government incentives to shoot in \nIndia was also released.Officials also stressed about the growing \nimportance of regional cinema in the country and the increasing role of \nstates in giving incentive to shoot films.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
India also highlighted\n the steps taken by the Government to ease shooting films in India \nthrough Film Facilitation Office that facilitates Single Window \nClearance for film-makersGovernment is exploring avenues to further \nincentivize foreign filmmakers to shoot in India.
The Indian \nDelegation interacted with key stakeholders of Cannes as well as other \nmembers of the film fraternity. To take advantage of availability of \ntechnicians and skilled professionals, the Delegation will showcase \nIndia as a post-production hub to promote collaborations for films with \ninternational production houses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thursday also saw screening of \ntwo Indian films, Lohardagga and Phulmania at the Cannes Film Festival. \nLohardagga is a film based on the circumstances that force a youth to \njoin naxal ranks.Other film Phulmania is a movie made in Nagpuri \nlanguage which has dealt with a key social issue concernig the state.\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
