Sporting a sequinned \u201cEJ\u201d rocket on his lapel, Elton John beamed his way down the Cannes red carpet on Thursday to see the premiere of his own biopic – \u201cRocketman\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The movie, starring Taron Egerton, tracks the \nsinger\u2019s first steps in the music business, from his tentative tryouts \non the piano as a child to his explosion onto the U.S. scene and its \ndrug and alcohol-fueled party world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although not competing for \nawards, it was still one of the most anticipated screenings of the film \nfestival on the French Riviera. Actresses including Julianne Moore and \nPriyanka Chopra lined up on the Croisette\u2019s famous steps to see the \nmovie, an all-singing, all-dancing depiction of John\u2019s most famous hits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Accompanied\n by his husband David Furnish, John posed for photographers alongside \nthe cast in heart-shaped, jewel-encrusted sunglasses.Directed by Dextera\n Fletcher, who also worked with Egerton on \u201cEddie The Eagle\u201d, the biopic\n has echoes of traditional Hollywood musicals, with dance scenes set in a\n fairground or down the local pub during flashbacks to John\u2019s teenage \nyears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
