Voting is underway in\n Australia’s first general election since political infighting ousted \nthe nation’s fourth leader in a decade. Australia has mandatory voting \nand a record 16.4 million enrolled voters. Around 7,000 polling stations\n have been set up across the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prime Minister Scott \nMorrison has made economic management the centerpiece of the campaign \nfor his conservative Liberal-National coalition, which has held power \nsince 2013. He faces Labor leader Bill Shorten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If Morrison does \nsurvive the vote, he’ll be revered as a one-man election-winning \nmachine, who fought and won largely on his own. If he loses, Australia \nwill have its fourth prime minister in just four years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
