The US State Department on Tuesday said that North Korea\u2019s overall programme of weapons of mass destruction violated UN resolutions, after President Donald Trump brushed off recent missile launches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said the United States wanted a favorable relationship between Trump and Kim with a goal to \u201cnegotiate a peaceful end to the North Korean WMD programme.\u201d \u201cWe have said many times and we will continue to reiterate that the economic sanctions will remain in place until we\u2019re there,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Choosing words carefully after Trump\u2019s latest warm words for North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus declined to say if North Korea\u2019s launches were of ballistic missiles or constituted weapons of mass destruction .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI think the entire North Korean WMD program, it\u2019s in conflict with the UN Security resolutions,\u201d Ortagus told reporters on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When he arrived in Japan for a weekend state visit, Trump tweeted that North Korea had tested \u201csome small weapons\u201d that had \u201cdisturbed some of my people, and others, but not me.\u201d He appeared to be referring to his National Security Adviser John Bolton, who said Saturday there was \u201cno doubt\u201d that North Korea\u2019s launches had contravened United Nations Security Council resolutions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
