Six members of the Masood Azhar-led Jaish-e-Mohammad have been arrested for allegedly collecting funds for the proscribed terror group, amid a pressure from the global community on Pakistan to curb terror financing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Counter Terrorism Department of the Punjab Police said on Wednesday it has intensified crackdown on terrorism financing and arrested six more JeM activists in Gujaranwala, about 130-km from here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe suspects were collecting funds to finance the activities of JeM. Charge-sheets against them have been submitted to the Anti-Terrorism Court in Gujranwala and they are being interrogated,\u201d the CTD said in a statement. \u201cNo one will be allowed to collect founds for any proscribed organisation,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Last week, six activists of the JeM and the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi were arrested by the CTD from Gujranwala, Rawalpinid, Multan and Lahore for allegedly collecting funds to finance terrorism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Monday, three terrorists belonging to the Islamic State and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi militant groups were arrested by the CTD officials in Pakistan\u2019s Punjab province.\u201cThe suspects have been shifted to undisclosed location for further interrogation,\u201d the source added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Paris-based international terror financing watchdog FATF in June last year placed Pakistan onto its watch list in a bid to push the country to halt support for militant groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In February, the FATF decided to continue the \u2018Grey\u2019 listing of Pakistan for its failure to stop funding of terrorist groups such as the JeM, the Lashkar-e-Taiba and the JuD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Pakistan government have arrested over 100 members of banned outfits including JeM chief Azhar\u2019s son and brother and also taken control of JeM, JuD and FIF\u2019s properties including seminaries and mosques across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The crackdown came amid tensions with India following a suicide attack in Jammu and Kashmir\u2019s Pulwama district on February 14 by the JeM that killed 40 CRPF soldiers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
