Bollywood actor Salman Khan spoke in length about Priyanka Chopra\u2019s exit from the Ali Abbas Zafar directorial \u2018Bharat\u2019, in a recent group interview. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Salman was asked if he believed that Priyanka was the wrong choice for the role. The 53-year-old actor said he always wanted Katrina Kaif in the film but Zafar thought she may not be able to pull off a \u201cHindustani role.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said: \u201cPriyanka was very keen on doing this film. We thought it was Katrina. But Katrina had just done \u2018Tiger Zinda Hai\u2019 with me. Ali thought that \u2018woh Hindustani role hai.\u2019 So, I said, \u2018Kamaal hai yaar! Tumhari dost hai, itna kaam kiya hai. You don\u2019t have confidence that she will be able to pull off a Hindustani role.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Salman added Priyanka must have been worried if he would ever work with her again. The actor, however, said he is willing to collaborate with her in the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOf course, why not! Priyanka must have also had thought that since she was taking a call five days before the schedule started, I might get pissed off. I might never work with her, all that stuff! Woh sab Priyanka ke dimaag mein aaya hoga. In spite of that, she took the call.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cShe has been here for the last 16 years. I told him, \u2018Don\u2019t be ridiculous. She has done movies like \u2018Rajneeti\u2019, movies of Rajkumar Santoshi and all that. Have you forgotten that?\u2019 Just because she has done movies like \u2018Bang Bang\u2019 doesn\u2019t mean she won\u2019t be able to play an Indian role,\u201d Salman continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThen Ali told me that Priyanka had called him and said she wanted to do this movie. Then her marriage thing happened, so she choose to take a very brave, bold and amazing step. Usually, people would have fights in their houses. Boyfriends and girlfriends might fight. Female actors might leave husbands for Bharat. But she did the right thing. She got married because she wanted. And Katrina got what she wanted,\u201d the \u2018Dabangg\u2019 actor said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Describing the meeting with Priyanka at his home, in the presence of his sister Arpita Khan, Salman said he told her that they would work out the dates according to her wedding but she was adamant on leaving the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI asked her what is it. So, she said, \u2018Woh Nick hai. I might get married.\u2019 So, I said, \u2018Get married then.\u2019 She then said, \u2018No no\u2026in those days\u2019 So I asked her, \u2018Are you going to make your own clothes? That will be done by your designers anyway. You just need to be present on those two-three days.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said: \u2018No no. I don\u2019t know which days.\u2019 I replied, \u2018Whichever day it is, we will work up and down.\u2019 So, then Arpita hinted at me that she didn\u2019t want to do the film. So, I asked her, \u2018You don\u2019t want to do the film?\u2019 She said, \u2018No. I don\u2019t want to do the film. Nick has proposed to me.\u2019 I said, \u2018Cool, if he has proposed, then you should.\u2019 Usually some people say that they would get married a year later, after finishing a project.
