{"id":64964,"date":"2019-07-01T11:45:23","date_gmt":"2019-07-01T11:45:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/?p=64964"},"modified":"2019-07-01T11:45:24","modified_gmt":"2019-07-01T11:45:24","slug":"british-singer-elton-john-mistaken-about-lgbt-rights-in-russia-putin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/british-singer-elton-john-mistaken-about-lgbt-rights-in-russia-putin\/","title":{"rendered":"British singer Elton John mistaken about LGBT rights in Russia: Putin"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that British singer Elton John is mistaken about the rights of LGBTs in Russia.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI have a lot of respect for him, he is a genius musician, we all enjoy his music, but I think he is mistaken,\u201d Putin said on Saturday during a press conference after the G20 Summit in the Japanese city of Osaka, according to the Russian news agency Interfax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Putin\u2019s remarks came after the artist slammed the Russian leader over the community\u2019s problems in the country.In April 2017, however, the daily Novaya Gazeta reported that dozens of men were seized, tortured and slain in Chechnya for their sexual orientation or suspected sexual orientation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The artist condemned the Russian President\u2019s statement, calling it \u201chypocrisy\u201d, particularly considering that the Russian distributor of \u201cRocketman\u201d, a biographical movie about Elton John, cut various scenes of gay sex and drug use from the film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mentioned in the report are a number of members of that community who were attacked in St. Petersburg and Moscow, LGBT events that were banned or interrupted, Web sites that were blocked on grounds they were spewing \u201cpropaganda,\u201d and violations of the gay community\u2019s human rights in Chechnya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elton John said on his Instagram account that he was \u201cdeeply upset\u201d by an interview that Putin gave on the eve of the G20 Summit to the UK\u2019s Financial Times newspaper, in which he said that \u201cthe liberal idea has become obsolete\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI strongly disagree with your view that pursuing policies that embrace multicultural and sexual diversity are obsolete in our societies.
