{"id":66429,"date":"2019-07-22T11:56:18","date_gmt":"2019-07-22T11:56:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/?p=66429"},"modified":"2019-07-22T11:56:19","modified_gmt":"2019-07-22T11:56:19","slug":"north-korea-leader-votes-in-elections-with-99-98-turnout","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/north-korea-leader-votes-in-elections-with-99-98-turnout\/","title":{"rendered":"North Korea leader votes in elections with 99.98% turnout"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>North Korean leader Kim Jong Un voted in nationwide local elections on Sunday that registered the near 100 per cent turnout claimed for every ballot held in the nuclear-armed state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only those overseas \u201con foreign tour or working in oceans\u201d were unable to vote, the North\u2019s state-run agency KCNA reported Sunday, adding that even \u201cvoters troubled with aging or illness cast their ballots into mobile ballot boxes\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Given the absence of any competition among candidates, elections in the North are essentially a political ritual which, observers say, allows the authorities to claim a popular mandate while reinforcing loyalty to Kim\u2019s regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The isolated nation holds local elections every four years to elect representatives to provincial, city and county assemblies.
