US President Donald Trump on Saturday said China wants to settle trade issues with America as it is experiencing the \u201cworst year\u201d in decades, but reiterated that he was not ready for a deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The US has imposed 25 per cent additional import tariffs on more than USD 250 billion worth of Chinese products. An additional 10 per cent import duties on remaining nearly USD 300 billion worth of Chinese products is all set to come into effect on September 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over the last few days, Trump has said he is ready to take more action against China if the latter does not take steps to address his concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He often accuses China of backtracking on its promises and commitments. \u201cWe are doing very well with China. We are talking to China. We\u2019re not ready to make a deal, but we\u2019ll see what happens,\u201d Trump said.Reiterating that the US has been hurt by China for 25-30 years, he alleged that none of his predecessors have done anything about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cChina wants to settle this deal. They\u2019ve had the worst year that they\u2019ve had in many, many decades. It\u2019s getting only worse. Thousands of companies are leaving China. They would like to make a deal. I\u2019m not ready to make a deal,\u201d Trump told reporters at the White House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trade talks between the US and China started last November. But after more than a dozen rounds of talks in both Beijing and Washington DC, the talks have not yielded any desired result.As per the initial decision taken by Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping last November, the two countries were scheduled to arrive at a deal in 100 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have no choice but to do what we\u2019re doing. It\u2019s working out very well. We called them on manipulation and they brought their numbers back, and they brought them back rapidly. They were able to do that because they manipulate. But that\u2019s so it\u2019s called \u2018monetary manipulation\u2019. Not good,\u201d the US President said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat happened and what\u2019s happening with China now we have an open dialogue. We\u2019ll see whether or not we keep our meeting in September. If we do, that\u2019s fine. If we don\u2019t, that\u2019s fine. But it\u2019s time that somebody does what we\u2019re doing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
