Australia coach Justin Langer has sought to inspire his team with the tale of boxer Muhammad Ali and his stolen bike to put the Headingley setback behind them and seize back the \u201cstolen\u201d Ashes at Old Trafford. Holders Australia came within one wicket of retaining the Ashes at Headingley but an unbeaten century by Ben Stokes and a string of fielding mishaps delivered England a nerve-jangling victory and levelled the series at 1-1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Langer likened Australia\u2019s Headingley despair to the theft of Ali\u2019s bike in Louisville, Kentucky, which led to the then-12-year-old taking up boxing in a local policeman\u2019s gym.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cChampions have all had times of adversity, whether it\u2019s in business, sport or life,\u201d Langer told reporters in Manchester ahead of the fourth test starting Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat was the fire he needed to become the greatest boxer of all time.\u201cWe felt a bit like we got the Ashes stolen the other day.\u201cNow we\u2019ve got to work out what we\u2019re going to do, and use that as fire.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
