\nNobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi today urged the Kashmiri children to shun violence and give wings to their dreams with education.<\/p>\n
Satyarthi, who started his campaign against child abuse from Kanyakumari on September 11, said children in Kashmir were being used to propagate violence.<\/p>\n
\u201cI will do whatever possible, I will talk to the government in Delhi and Srinagar but the violence needs to end. I appeal to children not to be part of violence,\u201d Satyarthi said in a jam-packed auditorium at Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre. Later, a yatra against child abuse was flagged off by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti near the Dal Lake. Hundreds of schoolchildren participated in it. As part of his drive, Satyarthi is taking out ‘Bharat Yatra’ and travelling 11,000 km in 35 days to mobilise people in different states. His campaign is scheduled to conclude in Delhi on October 16.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is unfortunate that we tell our children at home not to speak about harassment. I tell children that if they face harassment, they should speak about it, even if it happens in their homes,\u201d Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said on the occasion.<\/p>\n
Satyarthi said more than 9 lakh people from across the country had taken part in his yatra. “This is for the first time that people are marching for the safety of the children in the country,” he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne thing that can unite humanity is the compassion for the children,\u201d he said while asking kids to take a pledge to be his friend and help in spreading the message of love.<\/p>\n
