{"id":73242,"date":"2019-10-27T11:05:17","date_gmt":"2019-10-27T11:05:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/?p=73242"},"modified":"2019-10-27T11:05:18","modified_gmt":"2019-10-27T11:05:18","slug":"north-korea-says-its-running-out-of-patience-with-us","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/north-korea-says-its-running-out-of-patience-with-us\/","title":{"rendered":"North Korea says it\u2019s running out of patience with US"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>North Korea on Sunday said it\u2019s running out of patience with the United States over what it described as hostile policies and unilateral disarmament demands, and warned that a close personal relationship between the leaders alone wouldn\u2019t be enough to prevent nuclear diplomacy from derailing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a statement published by Pyongyang\u2019s official Korean Central News Agency, senior North Korean official Kim Yong Chol said there has been no substantial progress in relations despite warm ties between leader Kim Jong Un and President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy hope is that the diplomatic adage that there is neither permanent foe nor permanent friend does not change into the one that there is a permanent foe but no permanent friend,\u201d Kim Yong Chol said, stressing that the United States would fail if it tries to use the \u201cclose personal relations\u201d between Trump and Kim for delaying tactics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said Washington has been attempting to \u201cisolate and stifle\u201d North Korea in a \u201cmore crafty and vicious way than before,\u201d instead of heeding Kim Jong Un\u2019s call to change its approach in nuclear negotiations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kim Yong Chol said the Trump administration would be \u201cseriously mistaken\u201d if it ignores an end-of-year deadline set by Kim Jong Un to propose mutually acceptable terms for a deal to salvage nuclear negotiations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The North issued a similar statement on Thursday that was attributed to veteran diplomat Kim Kye Gwan. He criticized US officials for maintaining \u201cCold War mentality and ideological prejudice\u201d and urged the United States to act \u201cwisely\u201d through the end of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those talks have faltered after the collapse of a February summit between Kim and Trump in Hanoi, Vietnam, where the US rejected North Korean demands for broad sanctions relief in exchange for a piecemeal deal toward partially surrendering its nuclear capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The North expressed its displeasure with a flurry of short-range missile tests while Kim said he would \u201cwait with patience until the end of the year for the United States to come up with a courageous decision.\u201d               <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Washington and Pyongyang resumed working-level discussion in Sweden earlier this month, but the meeting broke down amid acrimony with the North Koreans calling the talks \u201csickening\u201d and accusing the Americans of maintaining an \u201cold stance and attitude.\u201d    <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the breakdown of the Hanoi summit, South Korean officials have speculated that the North sidelined Kim Yong Chol, the top negotiator and former military intelligence chief with a reputation as a hard-liner, and let Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho and First Vice Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui take the lead.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>North Korea on Sunday said it\u2019s running out of patience with the United States over what it described as hostile policies and unilateral disarmament demands, and warned that a close personal relationship between the leaders alone wouldn\u2019t be enough to prevent nuclear diplomacy from derailing.
