Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu called Yoga \u2018mother of all exercises\u2019 while inaugurating a two-day \u2018International Conference on Yoga for Wellness\u2019 in Delhi on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The thematic areas of deliberations include Yoga research in non-communicable diseases and scope of yoga in integrated medicine, control of cancer, depression, gynecological disorders and pain management.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe ancient science of Yoga is India\u2019s invaluable gift to the modern world. Yoga goes beyond the physical exercises and connects the body with thought processes,\u201d said Naidu.<\/p>\n
\u201cYoga has nothing to do with religion, as some people unfortunately attribute religious overtones to this ancient scientific system. It is a science of well being that needs to be studied and practiced just as any other medical system.\u201d<\/p>\n
The focus of the conference is on seeking solutions to contemporary problems because of modern, stress-filled lifestyles by utilizing the insights of ancient scientists.<\/p>\n
\u2018Yoga and Depression\u2019, \u2018Yoga and Cardiovascular Diseases\u2019, \u2018Yoga and Cancer Control\u2019, \u2018Yoga and Pain Management\u2019, \u2018Yoga for Women; Case Studies on Gynecological Disorders\u2019\u2014these are the topics of the technical sessions for papers presentation by experts.<\/p>\n
About 500 delegates including 69 from 44 overseas countries are registered to attend the conference that is being organized by ministry of AYUSH as a part of commemorating the celebration of 21st June as International Day of Yoga.<\/p>\n
Experts see it as platform-sharing opportunity for the AYUSH and allopathy practitioners, researchers, academicians, policy makers and students, and enable them to capture and understand various dimensions of yoga for wellness.<\/p>\n
This will be the third International Conference on yoga organized by the ministry of AYUSH. The last two international conferences on the themes of \u2018Yoga for Holistic Health\u2019 and \u2018Yoga for Body and Beyond\u2019 were organized in 2015 and 2016 respectively.<\/p>\n
