\nThe Department of Extension Education and Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized a demonstration on \u201cHappy Seeder Technology\u201d in the village Alluwal under the project \u201cImpact of Happy Seeder technology and its popularization in Punjab,\u201d funded by Seed Division, Department of Science and Technology. About 50 farmers from Alluwal and surrounding villages participated in this programme.<\/p>\n
Dr M.K. Narang, Associate Professor, Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, enlightened the farmers regarding different straw management techniques such as Happy Seeder technology, Chopper and Baler. Emphasizing the use of PAU Happy Seeder for sowing wheat in the standing rice stubbles, he made the farmers familiar with the benefits and functioning of this technology. He advised the farmers to make use of combines with attached Super Straw Management System (SMS) for harvesting paddy for the smooth functioning of the Happy Seeder machine.<\/p>\n
Er S.K. Lohan, Assistant Professor, Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, acquainted the farmers with the safety issues concerning farm machineries and accidents caused as a result of smoke from paddy straw burning. The farmers were also provided with Slow Moving Vehicle Emblems to display a special reflective sign at the rear side of the tractor trailer.<\/p>\n
Dr Manmeet Kaur, Assistant Professor of Extension Education, sensitized the farmers regarding ill effects of paddy straw burning.<\/p>\n
Mr Ramesh Chopra, Sub Inspector Agriculture from the State Department of Agriculture, made the farmers aware of subsidies on various straw management techniques. The experts motivated the farmers to adopt Happy Seeder technology for reducing cost incurred on sowing wheat and at the same time conserving the environment by not burning the paddy straw.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
