\nA delegation of the Jalandhar Sewing Machine Dealers and Manufacturers association today called on the Assistant Excise & taxation Commissioner (AETC) Mr. Paramjeet Singh at his office.<\/p>\n
The delegation impressed upon the AETC that recently the GST Council has clarified that 12% tax would be levied on Sewing Machines whereas 18% would be imposed on its parts. They urged the officer to raise the issue with the GST council to treat both the Sewing machine and its parts as the same component.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, interacting with the delegation, the AETC said that they would forward the demand of the association to the council. He said that since it was the matter concerning the council so the final call on the issue would be taken by it only. However, Mr. Paramjeet Singh assured the delegation that the department would ensure that all the problems faced by the manufacturers were resolved at the earliest. He said that the department and its officers were duty-bound to facilitate the traders and entrepreneurs and no stone would be left unturned for this cause.<\/p>\n
The AETC reiterated that the GST regime was the simplest tax mechanism, which was expected to give a big boost to the economy of the country in general and Punjab in particular.
