President Donald Trump on\u2009Saturday said that Pakistan took \u201ctremendous advantage\u201d of the US over the years, but is now \u201cstarting to have a real\u201d relationship.<\/p>\n
Trump\u2019s remarks came a day after Pakistan secured the release of an American-Canadian family from the clutches of the Haqqani terror network, five years after they were abducted.<\/p>\n
\u201cYesterday, things happened with Pakistan,\u201d said the US president.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have openly said Pakistan took tremendous advantage of our country for many years, but we\u2019re starting to have a real relationship with Pakistan, and they\u2019re to respect us as a nation again, and so are other nations,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey are starting to respect the United States of America again,\u201d he said and thanked the leaders of Pakistan for \u201cwhat they\u2019ve been doing\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn this administration, we will call evil by its name,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n
American citizen Caitlan Coleman and her Canadian husband Joshua Boyle along with their three children were rescued from the Haqqani network on\u2009Friday after an operation by Pakistani forces based on intelligence from the US authorities.<\/p>\n
Trump had slammed Pakistan for its continued support to terrorist groups and warned Islamabad of consequences if it continues to do so while announcing his Afghan and south Asia policy in August.<\/p>\n
President Trump yesterday hailed the release of the hostages from Taliban captivity. He said their release was a \u201cpositive moment\u201d for US relations with Pakistan.<\/p>\n
