{"id":76556,"date":"2019-12-18T10:51:51","date_gmt":"2019-12-18T10:51:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/?p=76556"},"modified":"2019-12-18T10:51:52","modified_gmt":"2019-12-18T10:51:52","slug":"us-opposes-lifting-key-sanctions-against-north-korea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/us-opposes-lifting-key-sanctions-against-north-korea\/","title":{"rendered":"US opposes lifting key sanctions against North Korea"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The United States said on Tuesday that it opposed a draft resolution proposed by China and Russia that would terminate UN sanctions on key North Korean exports, calling the measure \u201cpremature\u201d at a time when Pyongyang is threatening to conduct \u201can escalated provocation\u201d and is refusing to meet US officials to discuss denuclearisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The US State Department said President Donald Trump \u201cremains committed to making progress towards commitments\u201d he made with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un at their first summit in Singapore in June 2018 on transforming relations between the two countries, building lasting peace and ensuring complete denuclearisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A State Department statement said the US remained committed to diplomacy to make progress towards these goals, but it \u201ccannot do this alone\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The draft resolution circulated to UN Security Council members on Monday night would terminate sanctions on North Korean exports, including textiles, seafood and statues with the intent of enhancing the livelihood of the civilian population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>China and Russia made these and other proposals 16 days before Kim\u2019s end-of-December deadline for the United States to come up with new proposals to revive nuclear diplomacy.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The United States said on Tuesday that it opposed a draft resolution proposed by China and Russia that would terminate UN sanctions on key North Korean exports, calling the measure \u201cpremature\u201d at a time when Pyongyang is threatening to conduct \u201can escalated provocation\u201d and is refusing to meet US officials to discuss denuclearisation.
