A Chinese scientist who created the world\u2019s first \u201cgene-edited\u201d babies has been sentenced to three years in prison for illegally practising medicine and violating the country\u2019s medical regulations and ethics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe three accused did not have the proper certification to practice medicine, and in seeking fame and wealth, deliberately violated national regulations in scientific research and medical treatment,\u201d the court said, according to Xinhua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
