\nPrime Minister Narendra Modi today dared the Congress to contest the Gujarat Assembly elections on the issue of development, while regretting the \u201cdegeneration\u201d of the country\u2019s oldest party to the level of negativism to \u201cmislead people with communal and castiest politics\u201d.<\/p>\n
Addressing BJP workers at the culmination of the two-leg 15-day \u201cGujarat Gaurav Yatra\u201d, Modi attacked the Congress for its alleged \u201canti-Gujarat\u201d policies right from the inception of the state and said the only mission of the Congressmen was to \u201cprotect and promote\u201d interests of the Nehru-Gandhi family.<\/p>\n
He termed the upcoming Gujarat elections a contest between the BJP\u2019s \u201cpolicy of development\u201d and the Congress\u2019 \u201cprotection of the Gandhi family\u201d. \u201cDevelopment will win hands down,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
To blunt the Congress\u2019 criticism of GST and demonetisation, Modi said the GST was the policy of all parties and all state governments. \u201cIf anyone is facing any problem for its implementation, the Congress is equally responsible.\u201d Claiming that demonetisation had started \u201cshowing success\u201d, Modi said even when the digging was still on about the black money of the 2.1 lakh-odd fictitious companies, it had already laid its hands on Rs 4,000 crore stashed by 5,000 shell companies.<\/p>\n
He also ridiculed the Congress\u2019 plan to observe November 8, the first anniversary of demonetisation, as \u201cblack money day\u201d when the BJP had planned to celebrate the day as \u201cblack money eradication day\u201d.<\/p>\n
Modi said subsequent Congress governments in Delhi had done \u201cinjustice\u201d to Gujarat. \u201cSardar Patel, Morarji Desai, former Janata Dal CM Babubhai Jashbhai Patel and many others were denied legitimate dues just because they hailed from Gujarat. Former Congress CM Madhavsinh Solanki was among those who suffered injustice at the hands of the first Congress family,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He said Solanki was forced to resign as the External Affairs Minister only to \u201cprotect\u201d then PM Rajiv Gandhi. During his last visit to the state, Modi had ridiculed Solanki for taking credit for inaugurating a mere water tank in Jamnagar and criticised his \u201cnarrow and limited vision for development\u201d.<\/p>\n
Modi said the BJP\u2019s winning spree had unnerved the Congress, which lost its capacity to think positively and degenerated into \u201cpolitics of lies and negativism\u201d to mislead people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
