NIT area DCP Astha Modi handed over the amount on behalf of the DGP at her office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe confronted a chain snatcher seconds after he snatched the gold chain of a neighbour around 11 am on July 25. We did not let him go till others came to our help and he was handed over to the police,\u201d said Madhulika (33), a private tutor in Greenfields Colony.<\/p>\n<p>She said the snatcher, aged around 22 years, tried to run away, but she and her neighbour Kamlesh (48), a housewife, stood in the way. They caught hold of him when they heard screams of the victim residing nearby that someone had snatched her chain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe accused perhaps had no weapon and could not free himself,\u201d she said. It was a major relief that he could not hurt them, she said.
