{"id":80043,"date":"2020-02-14T11:02:58","date_gmt":"2020-02-14T11:02:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/?p=80043"},"modified":"2020-02-14T11:02:59","modified_gmt":"2020-02-14T11:02:59","slug":"sc-dismisses-plea-challenging-rejection-of-convicts-mercy-petition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blastingskyhawk.com\/english\/sc-dismisses-plea-challenging-rejection-of-convicts-mercy-petition\/","title":{"rendered":"SC dismisses plea challenging rejection of convict&#8217;s mercy petition"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the petition of death-row convict Vinay Kumar Sharma challenging the rejection of the mercy petition by President Kovind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Centre and Delhi governments had filed a plea seeking separate execution of the Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case convicts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A bench comprising Justices R Banumathi, Ashok Bhushan and A S Bopanna asked the convicts to file their counter replies by Friday. <br>\nThe apex court also appointed senior advocate Anjana Prakash as amicus curiae to represent the convict Pawan Kumar Gupta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The top court said, it is deferring the hearing in the wake of a trial court order directing the District Legal Services Authority to provide Gupta&#8217;s father with a list of its empanelled advocates to choose from to represent the convict.
