\nA Health talk on awareness on diabetes, Hypertension & Chronic kidney diseases a day before World Kidney Day was held at Aryans Institute of Nursing, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh. Dr. Sunil Kumar, MS Surgery, Consultant Transplant, Fortis Hospital, Mohali was the guest speaker on the occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The session was attended by the students and staff of GNM, ANM, B. Pharmacy, D. Pharmacy etc. The theme of the session was \u201cKidney Health for Everyone Everywhere \u2013 from Prevention to Detection and Equitable Access to Care\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Sunil Kumar briefed about the working, function and common diseases of the kidneys. While interacting with the students, he talked about various bad eating habits leading to kidney diseases like consumption of processed (modified or altered food), too much salt & sweet in diet, alcohol, smoking, lack of sleep, lack of exercise, holding pee, less water intake etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Sunil further said that in maximum cases, the patients having kidney diseases invite other diseases like hypertension & diabetes. Hypertension means high blood pressure in which unhealthy kidneys fail to excrete extra amount of sodium from the body resulting in high sodium concentration and extracellular fluid concentration which lead to high blood pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further talked about other disease i.e diabetes caused due to high glucose level in blood and lack of insulin. Diabetes directly affects the kidney. \u201cBy keeping our kidneys healthy we can prevent ourselves from two more diseases\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is to be mentioned that World Kidney Day is to be celebrated on 12th March in 2020 to raise awareness of the increasing burden of kidney diseases worldwide and to strive for kidney health for everyone, everywhere. Specifically, the 2020 campaign highlights the importance of preventive interventions to avert the onset and progression of kidney disease. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
